Run for Cover Records is incredibly excited to welcome Pity Sex to the roster. Hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, Pity Sex specialize in foggy, lo-fi noise pop and fuzzed-out, blown-speaker walls of sound, all with their own Midwestern emo subtleties. Situated somewhere at the convergence of Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth and Hum, the bands quietest moments are defeated reflections with plaintive instrumentals. Its loudest are desperate cries washed in searing, reverb-y overdrive.

Over the last 20 years, Halifax has become known for a very particular coastal music scene, churning out explosions of slick, melodic indie-pop. Yet below the sheen of the limelight, Halifax has also been home to an underbelly of angular and aggressive music that has excelled on the fringes. Bands such as The Plan, North of America, and Equation Of State carved out the gritty niche for others like Contrived, Slight Return, Attack Mode, and Radarfame – paving the way for a new generation of musicians embedded in the history of start-stop rhythms, atypical time signatures, and dissonant guitar riffs.

Distinctive Chicago-based doom collective Earthen Grave recently release their electrifying self-titled debut album. Boasting a powerful, dynamic style of plodding doom metal surging with classic heavy metal vigor, the six members of the band coalesce their metal aptitude into one entity with Earthen Grave. Founded in 2008 by guitarist Jason Muxlow (The Living Fields, Wintering) and drummer Scott Davidson (ex-Stonehenge, owner of Rebel Radio), the duo recruited bassist Ron Holzner (formerly of Trouble, Debris Inc., Place of Skulls, etc.), vocalist Mark Weiner (Trifog), guitarist Tony Spillman (Spillage), and renowned classical violinist Rachel Barton Pine on extended range electric flying V violin.
From the mossy underbelly of Portland, Oregon comes the gritty tones of ambidextrous quartet Nether Regions, and the release of their debut full-length LP, Into The Breach. Following the demise of Ditchliquor in 2006, bassist and vocalist Joe Wickstrom supplied live bass for Black Elk, Subarachnoid Space and Witch Mountain for three years, before seeking out several choice musicians in the area to form Nether Regions. With thunderous tones that would surely allow the band's sound to fall under multiple genre sub categorizations, the core Nether Regions sound simultaneously molests heavy riffery with a persuasion all their own, unable to be contained by one simple style tag.

Their rambunctious live shows always involve costumes, combat and quite a bit of property destruction by the band's dueling vocalists.
