- One day back in 2005, I got drunk with a friend and we decided to stop working on our then-active socio-political website, but continue to do something in the world of web. Heavy music was one of our common interests and within a few months PureGrainAudio was born. What began as a hobby has grown into way more than we could have ever expected. Now, all we want is global media domination. Full stop.

You have the ice-cold metallic barrel of a gun pressed against your head. The nervous sweat and crocodile tears are streaming down your face. And then it happens, your assailant asks you that one ridiculously important question; one that could spell out whether you live or die. “Who is this year’s absolute best new hard music act?” he asks in his deep angry voice.

There have been many talented new acts to emerge within the past year, but of them all, one of the most ferocious, multi-faceted, and enormously-talented bands is Bloodsimple. Hailing from New York City, a place commonly attributed with darkness, grit, and evil, it seems somewhat ironic that these very adjectives also perfectly describe the music offered on their breakthrough debut disc “A Cruel World”.

Any band who signs a contract with a major record label only to have their disc sitting on a shelf for over a year is bound to feel like crap. Honestly, imagine how you would feel if you put your very heart and soul into your musical work and ended up watching it collect dust as corporate executives gave you the runaround. It’s highly likely that you’d be frustrated, disheartened, and just plain pissed off.

Ah, the sweet sound of good new music! It is the auditory equivalent of waking up to the smell of frying bacon and fresh brewing coffee – a great way to start any day. Unlike coffee and bacon, however, the enjoyment one gets from music lasts forever. The new band in question here is Seemless; a Providence, Rhode Island based…

If you are a fan of metal at all, then by now you have heard (or at least heard of) Killswitch Engage. You might also have known that in 2003, shortly after recording their second full length album “Alive or Just Breathing”, due to personal reasons, then lead singer Jesse David made the decision to leave the band. This was a shock for the group and a difficult decision for Jesse...

American Head Charge are back with a magnificently vigorous third full-length album entitled: “The Feeding”. This disc offers an incredible array of generally aggressive songs, most of which are supremely energetic. The album is an unbelievable piece of industrial metal work and is easily the best one that American Head Charge have yet produced.

Theory of a Deadman is back with their second full-length release entitled Gasoline. The group’s self-titled first record was released in 2002 and quickly came to receive great reviews everywhere. Songs like “Nothing Can Come Between Us” and “Make Up Your Mind” were instant hits for this band from Vancouver, Canada. The group falls into the musical category of emotional hard rock, and although the y have very similar sound to fellow Canadian band Nickelback, rest assured that there is a distinct difference in sonance which sets the two apart.

It is a well known fact that with age, wine only improves in taste and quality. Coincidentally the exact same scenario proves to be true for Papa Roach: a four piece rock band from Vacaville, California. Recently the group released Getting Away with Murder; their third album since April 25th, 2000 when their debut record Infest hit…

Zack de la Rocha is an extremely talented and influential individual best known for his musical masterpieces created while still with his former band, Rage Against the Machine. The name of the band alone is, in some senses, a summation of Zack’s true character: a wildly rebellious man whose primary goal is to simultaneously push others to think for themselves and encourage social and political reform.

Myke Harrison is not only an incredibly amiable individual but also an equally gifted musician. Roughly four years ago, for a one year period, I had the great fortune of living with Myke. He was my next-door neighbour and our common love for loud music kick-started our friendship. At that point in Myke’s life he was already greatly involved with music.

Bleeding Through is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California, formed in 1999. The band blends influences stemming from modern hardcore, symphonic (black) metal, and melodic death metal. Although the band is often labeled as simply metalcore, when Brandan Schieppati was asked if he considers Bleeding Through a hardcore band, he said: "I think we're…
