When we last heard from alt-rockers Big Mother Gig, they had released one of 2017's most promising EPs, Almost Primed, after a 20-year hiatus. They followed up the EP with a music video for "Just Fly By" (an homage to The Replacements) and a Live EP documenting their March reunion show in Milwaukee.
The Midwestern power pop band now calls Los Angeles home and is making their West Coast debut on Friday, July 14th supporting touring UK rockers Alvarez Kings (Warner Brothers). They'll be heading up to the coast a week later for a few additional dates in San Francisco and Portland.
Now, we have a tendency to follow some bands we like on Spotify so we were intrigued when BMG singer Richard Jankovich uploaded a playlist called "7.14 Set." It's filled with 6 Big Mother Gig originals (4 from their new EP and 2 songs from the '90s) plus a song by legendary punk rockers, The Sex Pistols. We suspected this was BMG's set list and when we contacted the band they confirmed it.
"We're psyched to finally be playing in Los Angeles," said Richard, "I can't wait to play "Alvarado" in the very city which inspired it. Plus, we've chosen one of our favorite classic punk songs to close our set. As of right now, this is looking like our complete set but we might add a little something else so you'll have to come see us to know for sure."
