Ever wanted to go to a gig where the band just get up on stage and rock out for a few hours? Well, having seen metal giants Metallica take arena metal shows to a new level just over twenty-four hours earlier, it was nice to get back into the dark, smoky confines of the O2 Academy in Leeds to join San Fransisco garage three-piece Black Rebel Motorcycle Club who are halfway through a nine-date run that is seeing the band perform for nearly two hours.

Decked out in black leather, the band kick up a right din as they blast through their brand of greasy rock n' roll. Part garage rock roughness, part punk rock attitude, the likes of "Beat The Devil's Tattoo" and "Conscience Killer" are rattled out with plenty of attitude to an audience who are happy to stand, beer in hand and soak up the rock!

With Leah Shapiro behind the kit brilliantly holding the chaos together, even a more tempered rendition of "Haunt" and an acoustic interlude doesn't take away from the fact that this is the kind of rowdy rock show that kicks the arse of a damp October Monday night in Leeds.
