The rock n' roll circus that is Eagles of Death Metal is a live act that you shouldn't only hear, it's something you truly have to experience. The band brought their signature brand of dirty distortion, outrageous funk, electrifying enthusiasm, groove and searing soul to the stage to remind audiences they are a force to be reckoned with as a live act.
Frontman Jesse "The Devil" Hughes, aka Boots Electric, fired up the crowd by opening up with the classic fan favorite "I Only Want You" to kick the concert off in high spirits. Afterwards, Hughes went on to tell the audience how badly the band "needed a crowd" of "real rock n' rollers" because this was the bands' first show of their new headlining tour. The band is currently promoting their latest blazing batch of pumped up tunes entitled Zipper Down.
After the band blasted out choice cuts including "Cherry Cola" and "Whorehoppin' (Shit Goddamn)", Hughes took a moment to pay tribute to the icon David Bowie. The band blasted through an incredible cover of the classic track "Moonage Daydream" with soaring guitar harmonies and a blistering solo from Dave Catching.
New band recruit, badass bass player Jennie Vee, busted out a greasy bass tone as she blazed through a rendition of "Children of the Grave" by the legendary Black Sabbath. Sabbath recently played their last concert so it was endearing to see other great rock bands doing their part to keep the spirit of iconic rock music alive.
The band ran through their encore without slowing down for a second and left audiences with something to be desired after closing the show with "I Want You So Hard (The Boy's Bad News)". If you're looking for a band to have you burning a hole in the dance floor, EoDM are a refreshing reminder that rock n' roll is far from dead and that it's meant to be a damn good time and no one's too good to have FUN.
