Danish alternative act New Politics are on the final week of the Lost In Translation Tour, which features supporting acts Dreamers and The Wrecks and wraps up April 1st in Toronto. We caught up with them as they came to play an intimate show at Portland, Maine’s State Theatre.

Fans were lined up as early as noon on Saturday, March 24th for the show—which ended up being more intimate than many expected, drawing perhaps 200-250 fans to the 1,500+ capacity venue. While this was not ideal, it didn’t show in the energy of the bands performing or that of the crowd, which sang along as loudly as an audience twice their size.

Los Angeles’ indie act The Wrecks were up first. The band dropped a self-produced EP Panic Vertigo last month so much of their set was pulled from that record. Despite being in the opening role, this 5-piece seemed to have quite a contingent of supporters in attendance.

Three-piece “cosmic rock” act Dreamers were up next. The band’s brand of etherial rock/pop went over well with the crowd, some of whom said they had been following the tour for multiple dates just to catch the band—high praise for a supporting act. If you weren’t able to catch them this tour, they’re joining up with pop-punk giants All Time Low next month for a number of dates!

At last, trio New Politics took to a fog-enveloped stage to put on a dazzling set of indie rock/pop music. Frontman David Boyd was in his usual gymnastic form—at one point doing a head stand. Their set started off with “Istanbul,” and fan-favorite hit, “Everywhere I Go (Kings & Queens).” The whole set was one big sing-along, especially for “Color Green,” and “50 Feet Tall.” At one point the band had to stop playing when a PA speaker started smoking—I guess they were just rocking too hard? The set culminated with Nick Wold of Dreamers and Nick Anderson of The Wrecks joining New Politics onstage for final number “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” You can catch New Politics on tour until April 1st, the remaining dates are below!

Remaining Tour Dates:

03/30 - Boston, MA @ Paradise Rock Club
03/31 - Rochester, NY @ Anthology
04/01 - Toronto, ON @ The Phoenix Concert Theatre
