As I sit on the bus listening to the various transit riders and fellow TWRP fans gush about how amazing the show they just bared witness to actually was, I think back to about 10 years ago when I hosted a house party and my best friend first told me about Tupper Ware Remix Party. I had no idea what to expect and the band would successfully explode my brain and subsequently repack it into Tupperware. 10 years, 5 EPs and now a brand new record, and TWRP are still very much making brain pâté.

Their newest, Together Through Time, is hands-down the greatest musical offering from TWRP yet. This full-length is dripping in rich ‘70s rock & ‘80s nostalgia featuring the incredible contributing talents of The Protomen, Ninja Sex Party, Lydia Persaud and Planet Booty, among others; all killer, no filler.

Check out TWRP’s brand new video for their “Synthesize Her” single.

Alas, you’re here for a live show review and the album release show TWRP hosted at The Opera House was well worth the hype, not to mention a purely perfect way to kick off the band’s summer tour. Oakland, California’s Planet Booty took to the stage and were welcomed by Toronto with a hot fever. The group did not take long to kick the crowd into a sweat-soaked frenzy. This was my first time witnessing Planet Booty and the three-piece they did not disappoint!

Before long TWRP took to the stage, the crowd erupting into glorious applause. Doctor Sung rolling out on a “SWAGATRON” - the band’s new hoverboard. They started the show with their new track “Head Up High” before seamlessly laying into their new hit, “Synthesizer Her”. Never has this act been tighter than what I witnessed tonight. They would mix in a few classics while showcasing their new jams before ending the night by inviting Planet Booty to the stage for their collab track “Tactile Sensation”, ultimately ending the show with “The Hit.”

TWRP are legends in the making. On par with the likes of Daft Punk or Kiss, in the sense of their iconic presence. This is a band you MUST see so that 20 years from now you can say, “I saw them when....” Be a part of musical history and catch TWRP & Planet Booty on their “Together Through Time tour.”
