I was not sure what to expect when I downloaded the advance copy of All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood from The Body. What I found was a CD full of distortion, dissonance and discord that I really had a hard time listening to.

There are moments when the disc is somewhat endurable, but to me they are few and far between. I would liken this disc to something along the lines of experimental stoner metal. More often than not though the tunes are overdriven, way out there and distorted as hell making them, as far as I am concerned, barley listenable. A very good example of is the tune, "Empty Hearth.” With nerve wracking gibberish vocals and droning loops this tune, (if you can even call it that), seems like an exercise in futility, I am really not even sure what the point of including this one on the disc was.

I feel that in an effort to become more extreme sometimes bands will tread a fine line between noise and what I would call music. Sometimes those lines are crossed resulting in nothing more than a bunch of noise. That is what I feel has happened here on All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood. I am not sure what to say about something like this because it is hard to comment on its musical merit when I don’t feel there is all that much music to begin with.

Bottom line, this disc was not to my liking at all. I found it to be too extreme, too avante garde and perhaps too experimental for me. With so many other CDs to listen to All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood is not one that I plan on revisiting at all in the near future.  [ END ]
