Interview with AFI drummer Adam Carson
It’s very hard to believe but A Fire Inside, better known by the acronym AFI has been a band now for nearly twenty years. In their near two decade history, no one could ever accuse the group of taking things easy as they have written and released now eight studio records, eleven EPs and toured their asses off. You might think that AFI's best years are behind them but judging by the...

Interview with Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover
When you’re talking about the top five metal bands of all time, few would argue with the fact that Megadeth is among the best of all time. The legendary Dave Mustaine started this band now over twenty-five years ago and even today they are still going strong. Although Mustaine has changed the band’s lineup several times over the years, he seems to be quite...

The new album releases on June 2nd, 2009 and is titled In Shallow Seas We Sail. This is their fourth album and it is a perfect example of that which Emery stands for. The single “Cutthroat Collapse" is very heavy and enticing and leaves off perfectly from their last album While Broken Hearts Prevail. I am stoked about…

Interview with Farewell To Freeway frontman Chris Lambert, keyboardist Michele Walter and drummer Richie Gregor
The last time I had the chance to “speak” (an e-mail interview, which I usually loathe) with Farewell to Freeway, the band was shopping its highly memorable Year Of The Sun EP, In These Wounds, to various labels. Since then, the band has inked a deal with Chicago’s notorious Victory Records, releasing their full-length Definitions in early 2008. While this may be the first taste for many…
Interview with Total Fucking Destruction drummer Richard Hoak
”Our music is a message of energy and strength.” These are the words of Richard Hoak drummer for the rock band, Total Fucking Destruction, who describes the band as a “living celebration of the slow motion apocalypse!” With a name like Total Fucking Destruction you are kind of setting up some expectations right from the beginning. Fortunately, and as one would anticipate, their newest release…

For over a decade now the Swiss band Cataract have been kicking ass and with the release of their newest self-titled CD, they are preparing to continue the worldwide assault. With the summer festival season in full swing Cataract are preparing…

Alpha Galates is a Toronto-based prog metal outfit who’ve recently been making waves and catching some important ears. Interview with Fueled By Fire drummer Carlos
If you’ve been following the metal scene for the past few years, there is no doubt that you are familiar with the 80’s thrash renaissance. Legions of young bands from one side of the world to the other have pledged their allegiance to the groups who ruled the underground circa 1988. These new bands have more in common with Flotsam & Jetsam and Death Angel than they do with Disturbed or even, Every Time I Die.
Video Interview with Terror drummer Nick Jett
On the 20th of December, just before that jolly, warm, fuzzy time of year, Terror hit Toronto, Canada with Chimaira, playing a CRAZY show at the Opera House. Interview with Go It Alone frontman Mark and drummer Luke
On August 23, 2007 Go it Alone made their debut appearance in Toronto on their last tour as a group. In June of 2002 two friends wrote twelve songs and recorded six of them. The result was the Go It Alone. They called the demo Hollywood North. No shows were played, about 100 demos were mailed out and the friends went their separate ways for the better part of the year lured by world travels and other core-based projects. In February…

Silverchair is without a doubt, a group of phenomenal musicians, who not only stand the test of time, but also seem to produce forever- evolving new music! We were able to meet up with drummer Ben Gillies before the
Interview with Beatallica drummer Ringo Larz
Although parody bands don’t often get much mainstream attention because of the nature of their music, there are some that exist who possess quite a fan following. Perhaps the most popular parody band around today is Beatallica, a four piece band who brings together the worlds of The Beatles and Metallica. The band was first conceived about six years ago and since then Beatallica has garnered quite the fan base.
Interview with Rise Against drummer Brandon Barnes
Very few punk bands crack into the mainstream and even less of them do it with a political message. Chicago’s Rise Against have screamed for political activism and social responsibility since 1999, but it wasn’t until the release of their major label debut, Siren Song of the Counter Culture, that they did it on a mass scale. The album sold in excess of 500,000 copies and introduced their viewpoint and ideals to a whole new audience.
Interview with Farewell to Freeway drummer Richie Gregor
No strangers to the road, Farewell to Freeway have just recently come off of an extensive Canadian tour (only to begin a new one shortly), during which they took the time to collectively answer some questions for PureGrainAudio. Interview with Bullet For My Valentine drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas
Bullet For My Valentine (or Bullet or BFMV as they are sometimes known), is a four piece metal band from Bridgend, South Wales. These guys formed around the year 1998 and started out playing Metallica and Nirvana covers before they started to make it big writing, recording and releasing their own music. Recently, the band has really started to explode into the mainstream of metal, playing on last year’s Van’s Warped Tour and…

Straight out of the Orlando, Florida heat comes the fast-rising Metal band Trivium. In their six years of life as a band, these guys have seriously begun to make a mark within both the underground and mainstream metal scenes. This exposure has not only resulted in rapidly growing popularity for the band, but Trivium are now even playing with the likes of Iron Maiden on major international tours. Trivium’s latest record titled…
Interview with Ministry drummer Joey Jordison
Okay, so it’s safe to assume that if you’ve ever been a fan of metal, you’ve heard of Ministry. I mean this group has been around for over 25 years and is still going strong; a track record that very few bands boast. Headed by frontman and all around musical genius Al Jorgensen, Ministry has now found itself with its most appealing and strongest lineup ever. Filling...
Interview with Cannibal Corpse drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz
Gore, gore, gore! What fan of gore can’t help but think about Cannibal Corpse? They are the top band of the death metal elite for almost 20 years running now. To those that have never read an interview with the band before, you would think that meeting these guys would be intimidating to say the least. Maybe you could be the next subject matter for three minutes on the next album. But in actuality, these guys are some of the…
Interview with Moneen bassist Erik Hughes and drummer Peter Krpan
Ever heard the name Kenny Bridges? No? How about Peter Krpan, Erik Hughes, or Hippy Hughes? Still nothing? Well, know them. And know them well, because these four seemingly average guys are Moneen, and they’re taking the musical world by storm. Armed with an amazing show, catchy tunes, and a sense of humour, they’re changing the world, one note at a time.
Interview with Greeley Estates frontman Ryan Zimmerman and drummer Brian Champ
A wise man once told me, “You shouldn’t take life too seriously. You’ll never get out alive.” So, maybe it was Ryan Reynolds in Van Wilder, and maybe he was telling Tara Reid, not me... but the man has a point. Having started out as a joke and naming themselves after a town that smells like fecal matter, Greeley Estates is a perfect example of how Van Wilder’s theory on life can lead you down the road to success. But don’t be fooled. Despite…
Interview with Mastery drummer Kevan Roy and guitarist Markus Armellini

Interview with The HorrorPops drummer Henrik Niedermeier
They say that the 3rd time is a charm. I'm not sure if it is, but my third interview was with the drummer from the Horrorpops! That's right! The drummer of this world famous band and myself stepped outside The Opera House in Toronto, Canada before his set the night of Wednesday April 19th, 2006 and conducted one of my favourite interviews yet!
Interview with Hostage Life drummer/vocalist Paul Miller & guitarist Hai Vu
I’d be a liar if I said I was a diehard Hostage Life fan before ever doing this interview. In fact... I’m not positive I’d ever even heard of them. In any case, they put on a wicked show, and I must say... I’m hooked. Over the past four years, Hostage Life – whose members all come from five former Toronto-based bands – have made quite a name for themselves. After sitting...
Interview with The Subways frontman Billy Lunn & drummer Josh Morgan
Somewhere at 1 PM. Actually, by somewhere I mean the Rivoli on Queen Street. We’re in the back of the bar, where the bands go on stage, amongst stacked tables and chairs. Fluorescent lights flood the room and the environment is nothing like what it will be later tonight, when the lights go down and another band takes the stage. Charlotte is off somewhere else, and I...
Interview with The Junction bassist Matthew Jameson & drummer Michael Taylor
Hailing from Brampton, Ontario, The Junction consists of Brent Jackson (guitar/vocals), Matt Jameson (bass), and Mike Taylor (drums). The band’s name represents the idea of there being a place (or should I say, a “junction”) where different aspects of all genres of music connect to make one beautifully unique sound. And that’s exactly what this band does. I sat down...
Interview with Silverstein frontman Shane Told & drummer Paul Koehler
Having come together in Burlington in 2000, the guys from Silverstein have made quite a name for themselves. After just six years, these guys are already known around the world! 2005 was a huge year for them, but 2006 promises to be even better. Absolute madness I say! The band’s latest release, Discover the Waterfront, has been a huge success since its release last...
