On November 11th, 2008 Matt Murphy went to interview The Artist Life while they were playing Cafe Decuf with the Kathleen Turner Overdrive and Means on the Unity Tour. This band blends Punk Rock and Pop Rock effortlessly to create catchy memorable songs that never seem cliche (check out some songs on their MySpace. Their new record Lets Start a Riot is in stores and you won't regret picking it up. Check the rad interview with Ian Blackwood (frontman), Dean Richards (guitar) and Jake Parsonson (drums) above!
December 15th in a gymnasium of an elementary school in Gatineau Quebec! This is part Two of the Callahan interview. In this addition we talked a lot about one of Paul's (Callahan's drummer) best friends Chris Wynne. Who appears touring with Protest The Hero, in the "Cheese and Cracker's" videos, which Rody Walker of Protest made and also hes in a few of Protest's videos. We also talked about Rody Walker of Protest the Hero's contribution to the record when he sang over the bridge of Zombie Walk/Cellphone Talk. Thanks so much for watching!
Callahan is a band from Vancouver, B.C with an energetic sound and a live show to match. They have just made an online release of their first self-titled LP, produced by Julius Butty (Alexisonfire, Protest The Hero) which just kicks so much ass, and will have you coming back for more. I got the pleasure of interviewing these fine gentlemen on December 15th when they played a show in the gymnasium of an elementry school in Gatineau, Quebec. A bizarre venue, but that did not distract the buys from playing incredibly, with perfect live renditions of their songs. These guys are hilarious as well; they changed a billborad in the schools hallway to read U R my Taco I eet u! Well i hope you enjoy the interview and make sure to check out their MySpace and go see them live!
One the 11th of November, in the basement of the Babylon in Ottawa, ON, PureGrainAudio's Matt Murphy got to chill with The Bronx's vocalist Matt Caughthran; a really chill guy who makes incredible music.
We sat down with the lead singer Keith Buckley of the metal act Every Time I Die to talk about rumors of a side project with members of Fall Out Boy, their Canadian tour and the premonitions on their anticipated fifth album.
In the world of rock music, there are guitar players and then there are guitar gods, individuals who are the best of the best at what they do. One individual that is certainly amongst the best guitar players of the last fifteen years is none other than Tom Morello. Morello has done it all; from playing in one of the coolest bands ever in Rage Against the Machine to playing with another…
On October 17th at the Babylon Night club in Ottawa, Ontario, Karl Schubach the lead singer of Misery Signals and I got together to chill and talk about their most recent album Controller, their video for "A Certain Death", their collaboration with Fall out Boy and much more. This band has been around for years building their way up through the hardcore underground scene through relentless touring and releasing amazing albums that has defined their melodic hardcore contrast. Misery signals actually ran into a bit of trouble getting to the Ottawa show. Their trailer broke down and they had to spend $4000 to buy a new one so thy could make the show and my interview. Just wanted to say thanks boys.
On October 24th Matt Fox and I got to talk after they played the Babylon in Ottawa, Canada. For those who don't know Matt Fox is the guitarist and last founding member of Shai Hulud, a band who played a huge part in building the Metalcore genre in the late 90s. Their latest Metal Blade effort, Mysanthropy Pure has…
It's been several years now since my dear friend ordered Revanna, The Reason's debut album, and was accidentally sent two copies. He was kind enough as to pass a copy on to me for a listen and I’m so thankful he did. Revanna had so many elements to it, it obviously was an album…
On October 17th at Zaphod's Beeblebrox club in Ottawa, Ontario, I got to chill with Justin Dube (vocals, guitar) and Casey Shea (guitar, vocals) of the rock band Everlea. Their combination of catchy melody and indie rock is something not to be missed. These guys are super chill, so much in fact that when I asked to do an interview on the spot, they were down. Their Self-Titled album has been released through Glassnotes Records this past September and is causing a stir.
Filter and Richard Patrick are back and better than ever. Recently, on June 26, 2008 to be precise, the band headlined an awesome show with Ten Years and Opiate for the Masses in downtown Toronto, Canada at The Guvernment.
Dillinger 4! These guys are more hilarious then you think! Recently on October 8th, while on tour with Punk Legends NOFX, we got a chance to sit down with this rad band and talk about... well just about everything. After 6 years on vacation, the band has finally released a long overdue new CD titled, "Civil War and are now touring all over in support thereof.
Hey Everyone! My name is Matt and I’m new to the PureGrainAudio Team. If you're not already familiar with me, I had been interviewing bands on YouTube all by myself until the nice man Chris Gonda said; “I see something in you kid” and now he’s lending me a hand. I’d like to introduce myself with an interview I did with LIGHTS. What can I say about her; well she is one of the nicest…
October 7th, 2008 might have come and gone like any other night, but for lucky Canadian August Burns Red fans it will last forever.
Chicago-based Punk Rockers Rise Against hit up Toronto, Canada on October 3rd and again on October 4th for some wicked back-to-back Rock mayhem. Why 2 nights some of you may be wondering... well because they are that effin' good!
On June 22nd, 2008, Hardcore legends Hatebreed stopped through Toronto, Canada while co-headlining on the Jagermeister Music Tour. The Opera House was abuzz with happy fans and our Stoked interviewer Mitch Brown caught up with the legend himself, Jamey Jasta. Jamey had just woken up to do this interview, but was surprisingly astute. Once underway, Jamey talked about Hatebreed as well as his various other bands, project, record label and much more. What's funny about the interview is that Mitch didn't seem to mind the random cord dangling in his face throughout the interview... Oh well, at least Jamey got a kick out of it.
On May 14th, 2008, Motion City Soundtrack brought motion to our city of Toronto along with soundtracks off their most recent album titled Even If It Kills Me. Walking to the show was a drag because it was raining so hard, but once I got there the sun came out and things went smoothly. On the band's dry bus I managed to catch up with bassist Matt Taylor and drummer Tony Thaxton. Check it out.
On May 10th, 2008, People in Planes came overseas to pay us a visit from Cardiff, Whales for a short week to do some promotion for themselves. I met up with them at the Spoke Club which is some fancy-ass club for people involved in media and entertainment. After the interview (where we spoke with vocalist Gareth Jones & guitarist Peter Roberts) I got to…
On May 14th, 2008 Evergreen Terrace came strolling through the slums of Toronto and we figured we'd meet up with them and ask them what the heck was up.
The year summer started in May! Misery Signals made it all happen when they came over the border for their show at the Pheonix on May 14th and brought a whole lot of melodic riffs and hard-pounding breakdowns along with them. Their new CD Controller is not out yet but they happen to give us a little taste of it that night. Want to know what ingredients go into…
