The Skinny: Empress are a new, young prog-rock quartet from Berkshire. They will be releasing their debut single in the form of double a-side "Left In Awe / Nostalgia" on September 16th. The band will also be supporting Baroness at their sold out show on 12th July at the Barfly in Camden. Empress have been writing since the start of 2011, honing their style together; quietly and carefully. The result is a sound that belies their young age – all are in their early 20s. Soothing and vicious in turn, they juxtapose gentle harmonies with frantic ferocity; relaxed strumming followed by a detonating roar.
