Los Angeles-based female-fronted rock quintet, The Longing released their 3-minute-long “What If”single yesterday, May 11th, through their own Filthy Princess Records, and are now immediately following it up with the track’s official music video. Already accumulating accolades for their dramatic style and sound, the “What If” single (taken from the band’s upcoming Tales of Torment Deluxe full-length which is slated for release on July 20th) will only serve to further grow The Longing’s fanbase.
Elaborating on the single, founding member and vocalist Laura Bradley said:
“‘What If’ is a truly personal story, it’s a biographical moment from my own life, an experience which cut me deeply and will scar for the rest of my life. There was a moment of realisation in my life, when everything came crashing down around me as I discovered the betrayal of somebody really close. How that then impacted on others around me and my need to then hold up those who were falling, even though I felt crushed myself. You’ll hear the hurt and anguish in my vocals on this song, those are truly scars rippling through my music. I hope that The Longing fans can enjoy the melodic result of the anguish that I went through, then I’ll feel that at least an element of ‘good’ came out of a terrible situation.”
