LA’s Velvet Starlings are a sixties rock three-piece who reboot the British Invasion groups of their favourite decade and pull them into the modern era. Fronted by the prodigious vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Christian Gisborne, these guys - and gal - are getting heavy support from Los Angeles area radio stations, including the powerhouse KROQ, and are poised to rocket onto even bigger and better things.

With one self-titled EP behind them, their newest “mini album’, Love Everything, Love Everyone (which you can stream on Bandcamp here), dropped July 4th on Sound x 3 Records with help from engineer/mixer Josiah Mazzaschi (Smashing Pumpkins, The Kills, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Deap Valley) and Brian Lucy for mastering.

Here’s “Sold Down The River” off the band’s debut EP.

As the band continues to support the recent release, we are honoured to host a free download of the album’s lead single, “Kids in Droves” (you can also check it out on Spotify here and on Apple Music here). Centred around an infectious organ hook, the track is an energetic jaunt through social-media-infected modernity dressed in the powerful sonics of the best the sixties has to offer. On the song, the band says the following,

“Our band definitely has a sixties vibe both musically and aesthetically, but with an ‘our generation’ lyrical message to the music. Our current single, “Kids In Droves,” hits on the idea that we all seem be caught up in the iPhone or smart phone social media world and people’s constant need for validation, while measuring our self worth by who is liking and loving what we post about in our feeds. That new album’s name is Love Everything, Love Everyone, which has a double meaning too. Hopefully listeners can get the message and at the same time feel the groove, vibe and sound of the rock ‘n’ roll of the sixties.”

Coming it at 3:07, “Kids in Droves” is a quick journey you won’t regret, so grab your copy today and rock out with the fundamental energies of great rock ‘n’ roll.
