Vendetta Rose have their bow and arrow in hand, and their sights set on loads of new fans. Their ammunition? The snazzy new single “Cupid’s Arrow,” which we’re pleased to premiere today. Hailing from the small, seaside city of Asbury Park, New Jersey, the five-piece are not taking any time for a breather this year with the release of “Cupid’s Arrow” coming roughly six months after the release of the band’s debut, four-song EP Tilted Directions (Find that EP and more of the group’s music on Spotify).

Commenting on “Cupid’s Arrow,” lead singer Alec Demello said, “This song is meant to display how much power love truly has on someone. How love can save a life and completely change someone’s entire world.” Along with Demello, the brains behind this exciting new group include bassist Kyle Crowley, guitarist Ryan Graci, guitarist Nick Marrotta and drummer Joey Prince. Bringing a clever blend of emotional lyrics, catchy melodies, and power riffs, Vendetta Rose is a combination of young musicians each with their own tales of ups and downs. They know no other way than to come at you “straight from the heart,” the same music they are intent on creating.

Looking up to hard rock legends such as Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden and Foo Fighters, these musicians grew up on the music scene that they were exposed to growing up on the Jersey Shore. The band began to receive recognition playing in and around New Jersey and New York City, and the release of Tilted Directions only increased the buzz thanks to its warm reception from both local area publications and fans. The larger crowds and added exposure has been all due to their commitment to remaining true to the foundations of rock n’ roll, as their passion for pure rock music shines through in the songs the band members compose as well as their onstage dynamics and chemistry.

Open up your heart to Vendetta Rose's brand new single, “Cupid’s Arrow:”

Each member comes with a solid reputation within the ranks of rock, with experience opening up for well-established acts such as Corey Glover (Living Colour), Doug Wimbish (Living Colour), Robert Trujillo (Metallica/Ozzy Osbourne), Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Eddie Brigati (The Young Rascals) and Steven Van Zandt. In order to find out more about the quickly rising rock act, we spoke with lead guitarist Nick Marrotta for a little more background on “Cupid’s Arrow,” the writing process behind the song, the reception to their debut EP Tilted Directions and if this means that a new EP or album is on its way soon.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

11/03 - Brighton Bar, Long Branch, NJ

Take us back to the time “Cupid’s Arrow” was written, if you will. What was the process like? Was this a tough one to bang out or did it come fast and naturally?

Nick Marotta: “‘Cupid’s Arrow’ was first created when Nick was sitting in his room and the riff and arrangement came to him. It took Nick a couple of weeks until he brought it to the band. The rest came together pretty quickly.”

To see Vendetta Rose in action, watch their official music video for “Over and Under”:

“Cupid’s Arrow” sounds highly inspired by classic, fast-paced riff rock. Where did the inspiration come from for this particular song?

Marotta: “At the time, he was listening to the album Seal the Deal and Let’s Boogie by Volbeat as the riff came to him. One song in particular off of the album was ‘Black Rose.’ Nick had wanted something with a more radio-friendly feel.”

Your debut, four-track EP Tilted Directions was released now about six months ago. Were you pleased with how the EP turned out and the reception it received?

Marotta: “We were very pleased with how the EP turned. We were surprised with the little to no negative criticism surrounding the EP.”

The release of “Cupid’s Arrow” comes fairly quickly after you just released an EP. Can we take this as a sign that you have another release that’s on the way soon?

Marotta: “We are absolutely gonna have another release in the coming months. Ideally in early December.”

You guys have come a long way quite extremely quickly with all of you still being extremely young. At this point in time, what would you say are your short-term and more long-term goals as a band?

Marotta: “Our short term goal is to continue putting out music periodically and building our name in the local Asbury and Jersey shore area. Our long term goal is to travel the world and sharing our music with the world as a rock band.”
