The Veer Union recently released their sophomore album, Divide The Blackened Sky, via Rocket Science Ventures. Being a fan since their 2009 radio-friendly rock debut Against The Grain, I went into this album with preconceived notions. Almost immediately after I hit play Crispin Earl’s voice startled me - he has a combative presence on the opening track "Borderline" and I like it!
Alisha Turull started out in the music business by playing instruments. Quickly though her focus on music would redefine what she wanted her career goals to be: working behind the scenes in the music industry and helping her clients to become rockstars. Turull started her career while in college in her school's radio station, then joined the heavy metal artist management company, Heavy Hitter. Now she's the Executive Assistant to CEO Billy McGathy at In De Goot Entertainment (a company that manages artists such as: Shinedown, 10 Years, Adelitas, Way, Black Stone Cherry, Chevelle, Halestorm, In This Moment, Neon Trees, Sevendust, and Theory Of A Deadman). PureGrainAudio had some time recently to talk to Turull and this is what she had to say.
Vancouver hard rockers The Veer Union recently released their new single "Bitter End", from their sophomore record Divide The Blackened Sky out now via Rocket Science Ventures. This song is chock full of catchy melodies and choruses, and from the very start the guitar plays a hypnotic line (very Linkin Park "Hybrid Theory" sounding). Said guitar is quickly followed by in-your-face drums which remain for the rest of the song. Vocalist Crispin Earl’s voice sounds claustrophobic and somewhat anxious during the first verse then opens up for the chorus. Once that happens, it is balls-to-the-wall rock n' roll at its finest.
Anchor The Tide rose up out of the Tacoma/Seattle underground in late 2010 like some monstrous and utterly captivating car-accident-in-progress. Hitting the ground with an immediate full head of steam the band has gone through a few member changes and just recently solidified their lineup. They recently completed writing and recording their EP with producer Joel Casey Jones of Blessed By A Broken Heart and are now looking to tour for the rest of the Summer.
Seattle-based metalcore group Anchor The Tide recently posted a lyric video for their newest song "There's A Snake In My Boot!" online. "This single is only the beginning of a stellar masterpiece that we are creating," exclaims vocalist Brandon. “We are all amazed at how this song has turned out and it has intensified our urge to write more music. The public should expect monstrous things to be on the way.”

Hopes Die Last is a post-hardcore metal band imported from Rome, Italy. After several successful albums and tours under their belt, the band will be releasing a brand new effort titled Trust No One, this Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14th. Vocalist Daniele Tofan sat down with PureGrainAudio to discuss the buzz surrounding their upcoming release.
Rome, Italy’s export of emerging post-hardcore with sing-along choruses brings with it a brand new, magnificent band called Hopes Die Last. Their upcoming album, Trust No One, out via StandBy Records is hitting stores this Valentines Day, February 14th.
Ahh, Art Of Dying. What can I say? I have been a big fan of the band even before their self-titled release in 2006 when very few people had heard of them. Such deeply meaningful and radio friendly tracks as "Get Through This," "You Don’t Know Me," "Inside It’s Raining" and "Completely," were burned into my memory, programmed into my new artist lexicon, and imprinted on my musical compass as what good alternative rock should be.
A&R stands for Artists and Repertoire, a job within a record company that discovers, signs and develops artists and acts as an intermediary between the artist and record label. As the major record labels of the world are losing money and laying off their workers, PureGrain brings you a very tongue and cheek point of view of the major record industry! Meet Bertie Big Balls. THE A&R Guy. Artists like him. Woman love him. His competitors fear him. Yeah, Bertie Big Balls is THE man. His shit doesn't stink. He pisses excellence.
Achtung! Attention all metalheads, techno-music lovers, and prog-rockers! Emerge yourselves from your windowless rooms and listen to Rammstein’s latest album! I have always been a huge fan of the German metal band Rammstein, ever since their catchy single “Du Hast” took over the airwaves in 1998. Now is amassed a catalogue release of all of the band’s top songs into two CDs and three DVDs that is simply titled, Made In Germany: 1995-2011.
StandBy Records is an independent rock/metal label from Cleveland, Ohio that has propelled the careers of several notable artists including Emarosa, Before Their Eyes, and most recently metal heavyweights Black Veil Brides. Black Veil Brides have become a juggernaut on the Billboard charts and received numerous awards and accolades. At the company's helm is StandBy Records CEO and Owner Neil Sheehan. As the music business continues to evolve, Sheehan's company has remained relevant with their finger-on-the-pulse of industry trends and by nurturing and developing upcoming bands. I took some time to have a chit-chat with Sheehan about what's going on with the music industry and his record label and artists.
Suicide Silence has perfected the art form of extreme metal. Releasing their fourth album entitled, The Black Crown, on July 12th, 2011 via Century Media Records, the band is a permutation of death metal, metalcore, and just about everything else that is angry and dysfunctional in this world. Suicide Silence just returned from a South American tour with Cannibal Corpse and is set to return to South America again with metal heavyweights Machine Head starting in January of 2012. Recently I…
Suicide Silence unleashed their hard-hitting and ruthless album, The Black Crown, on July 12, 2011 and while I've always been a fan of the band, this release is really a true juggernaut of sound. Holy shit this album is amazing!
Fans of Judas Priest, KISS, and Iron Maiden rejoice! America’s own heavy metallers, Iced Earth, recently dropped their latest album, Dystopia. This record is amazing! As soon as I pushed play, the first song and title track of the album, "Dystopia," crushed me with heavy double bass and crunch-crunch guitar work.
