Take a swig of some of that Lullwater. You may just become addicted to what you’re tasting. Like a fine wine, Athens, Georgia hard rockers Lullwater are getting better as they age, and their brand new lyric/music video for “This Life” is perfect proof of that. The track comes from Lullwater’s last full-length Voodoo which dropped almost a year ago to this day.
The new music sees Lullwater doing what they do best; delivering some stadium-sized rock sounds with that swagger you’ve come to know since their inception thirteen years ago. They started off last year strong, supporting Voodoo with a tour opening for Sevendust, then finished the year supporting Blacktop Mojo and now are ready to keep the momentum moving forward.
Commenting on the song, vocalist John Strickland noted, “‘This Life’ is a powerful song and we love playing it live. In such a confusing world filled with negativity, addiction, and anger, sometimes you have to reset and realize that you only have one life to live If you let these things consume you, you will never reach happiness. The want to drastically change your current state and mindset is what drives this song.”
With experience on their side, perhaps the best aspect of Lullwater is their dedication to carrying forth the riff-heavy guitars and stage swagger of the bands that they grew up on from the 1990s. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2012 which immediately started building them a reputation with mainstream bands who were taking notice. That’s why this is a quartet that has toured with some of the best rock acts of the last decade, including Candlebox, Theory of a Deadman, Flyleaf, Passafire, Amaranthe, Butcher Babies, and more.
Voodoo was perhaps the highlight of Lullwater’s ongoing success with more set to come from the band’s planned follow up. Expect to hear some more new music in the spring, along with a headlining tour to coincide with that. So let’s keep on downing that Lullwater, shall we?
