It's now only 3 weeks until thousands of metal fans descend upon Catton Hall for Bloodstock Open Air and organisers have weighed in with the final additions to the bill.

Firstly, organisers have revealed a surprise special guest gracing this year’s event as Ross The Boss confirmed that former Judas Priest axe legend, KK Downing will be appearing with him for part of his set at Catton Park, heralding KK’s first public performance in 10 years!

Secondly comes the somewhat curveball announcement that Brit rockers The Wildhearts would be the replacement act for hardcore bruisers Code Orange who have sadly had to drop out of their main stage slot. Wildhearts frontman Ginger said: "I am over the fucking moon to be playing BLOODSTOCK festival. I’ve been waiting for this for years. I always said that the first time I attend BLOODSTOCK, I want to be on the bill. What a way to lose your cherry!"

Expect a set full of bangers like "Dislocated" when The Wildhearts perform at Bloodstock this August:

Speaking of replacements, on the Sophie Lancaster stage are Scottish gloom squad, Lotus Eater will be replacing Shvpes, who’ve also regrettably had to cancel. The Glasgow based outfit recently released their Social Hazard EP via Hopeless Records. Check out the video for "Mother" here:

In other news, rounding out the Jagermeister stage bill are death metal trio Phemigoid, heavy groove rock squad, Black Falcon on the Saturday with sludge metal crew Crimson Tusk and female-fronted death/groove outfit, Jackal's Backbone who fill out Sunday’s line-up.

Grab yourself a shot of Jager and head down to check out Jackal's Backbone who sound a bit like this:

Finally the Metal 2 The Masses programme came to a conclusion recently and the final batch of New Blood stage artists have been revealed. Friday brings Somerset death/thrash champions Death By Ki, Brighton’s progressive/tech victors Gaia, London runners up, alt progsters Xero, and a bonus from the Merseyside final, trad metallists Midnight Prophecy.

Here's a clip of Death By Ki with "More Than Grey" who will be shredding on the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock Open Air this year:

On Saturday, Cheltenham winners Grief Ritual add some new wave blackened hardcore, joined by Bristol’s prog thrash conquerors Voltunas, London’s groove metal top dogs Empire Warning, doom beasts Voidlurker, who won in Birmingham and melo-death act Stormcast who impressed judges so much at the Brighton final, they've landed a slot too.

We'll certainly be taking part in a Grief Ritual if their video for "Apatheism" is anything to go by:

Finally, there’s two more bands finishing off the Sunday New Blood line-up in the form of Leicester’s prog metalheads Fractions and Leeds industrial groovers Leadrobot.

Hopefully "The Gods Will Be Watching" when Leeds Industrialists Leadrobot slay the New Blood Stage on the Sunday:

Bloodstock will take place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 8th-11th August 2019. Get info on ticket packages and additional information over at www.bloodstock.uk.com.
