Toronto-based metal band Decatur has announced the release of their debut record Badder Than Brooklyn on October 6th. This ain't just your typical indie-metal album either. This record was produced by none other than Joe Duplantier from metal giants Gojria! The band is named after their own street of dreams in New York, where they recorded the album at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn. The group's unique sound comes from being open-minded, not just to each other, but to different genres outside of metal. You'll find a lot of blues, traditional rock and even pop vibes on Badder Than Brookyn.

Vocalist and guitarist Jay "Beard" Sarrazin commented, "We put a lot of effort into writing real songs and putting out a real album that hopefully touches a broad fan base. Our goal was to make sure that not only every single song had been thoroughly thought through, but that it was given all the attention and passion that we truly felt they deserved. We honestly feel like metal has lost its way a bit and we were set on writing something original and not following the trends of today such as low tunings, aggressive growling and perfectly lined up music and sound. We focused on the realness of ourselves and wanted to produce something that wasn’t always perfect and was as real and as honest as we could be. We did not need or want to hide behind production. We wanted our raw talent to be caught and portrayed to everyone. Our goal was to produce something from the soul, not from the computer."

In support of the album's release, Decatur will embark on a cross-Canada tour, beginning October 6th in Toronto. The tour will take them all the way out to BC so the guys will be putting a lot of mileage in, in between their hard hitting performances. Commented Sarrazin, "We pride ourselves on a high energy, hard-hitting live performance. We are not like most bands that stand there and stare at their instruments. Playing live is almost like a healing process for us and we need to play with a significant amount of power and energy to portray the songs in the right way and give them the respect they deserve. We want our fans to come for an experience not just a live show!"
