To say that the O2 Academy in Leeds is absolutely bouncing by the time we make our way into the venue would be something of an understatement. With no support act to speak of, it was upto DJ Mateo to get the crowd in the mood and he did that with an absolutely banging set. Hugely excited to be on tour with the Fun Lovin' Criminals the DJ had the room rocking with mixes from AC/DC, House of Pain, Nirvana, Guns n' Roses and MANY more. Sure, it would have been nice to have a support act, even if it was one that most people would have probably ignored but, in this instance, DJ Mateo had the place absolutely shakin' before the main event.
Despite still recovering from a broken ankle, Huey Morgan and his band of Fun Lovin' Criminals were here to add a bit of cool to the night and they certainly did that. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that it's been a long time since a band with this much cool has passed through town. Super chilled-out, Morgan and his bandmate took their spots on the stage, the crowd went batshit and, under a waft of incense, the night kicked off with "Rumble". Through a slick, jazz-tinged set of songs, Fun Lovin' Criminals lapped up every moment they were on stage showing that, after over twenty five years in the business, they not only know how to put on a show but, as the likes of "Scooby Snacks" shows, they're a three-piece who are still very much at the top of the game.
Grab yourself a handful of "Scooby Snacks" and enjoy some classic FLC:
