In the run up to tonight’s show the UK is going through what we Brits call a heatwave and the rest of the world call Summer. However, tonight the clouds are out for the Scarborough debut of Welsh rock quartet the Stereophonics who are headlining the latest in a series of gigs to take place in the fantastic surroundings of the Scarborough Open Air Theatre.

A sold-out crowd were bouncing as frontman Kelly Jones strutted down the ramp and right into the faces of the front rows during opener "C'Est La Vie" while the rest of this hit-packed set was filled with a bagful of crowd-pleasers like "Nice Day" - a song Jones introduced as "one we wrote in San Fransisco". It's a suitably big performance from a band who, at this point in their careers, see stages of this size as home now while the stage show features a wall of blinding video screens which accompany the band throughout their set.

"Indian Summer" may not have been matched by the weather but the likes of "Handbags and Gladrags" and set closer "Dakota" along with a frontman who is certainly a hit with the female contingent, guaranteed that the Stereophonics debut in Scarborough will be one of the highlights of a scorching Summer for many in attendance tonight.
