Call Me Chris: A Tale of Healing, Recovery, Selfishness and Resolve is a story of perseverance, endurance, and the indomitable will of the human spirit to push on against all odds.

Author Chris Akin painstakingly relates his harrowing tale of how a freak accident at work left him burned over almost 70 percent of his body, virtually knocking on death's door. Unwilling to give up, even though at times it may have seemed like the better choice, Akin clings to his love for family and music, especially Pantera.

Without giving too much away, a hospital employee and fellow metal head bestow upon Akin a Pantera cassette tape that literally gives him the strength to carry on. With Phil Angelo, Dime bag Darrell and the rest of the Pantera boys blaring across the speakers, he is able to summon the strength to endure the excruciatingly painful debridement treatment.

Ultimately, Call Me Chris: A Tale of Healing, Recovery, Selfishness and Resolve is a tale of survival. Akin does a great job of relating his unimaginable pain and suffering from the moment he wakes up in the hospital, weeks after the accident, to his life back out in the real world.

This is a good, emotional read, packed with ups and downs that in the end will leave you inspired.
