The Skinny: Some bands never got what they deserved during their time. In the '80s, when the thrash metal movement was spreading its hard-livin', no-fucks-given ideology all over the world from America, one European country in particular was especially enticed by it: Germany. Spawning what would eventually be known as "Teutonic Thrash Metal", Germany was the next go-to country for rabid thrash metal fans; with the unholy trio of Destruction, Kreator and Sodom being to German thrashers what the Big Four (Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer) were to Americans.

Still, many underrated and unexposed German thrash metal bands were overshadowed by the unholy trio, and they never really got their fair share of the spotlight, dwelling only in the hearts of the manic thrash fans who dig really deep into the underground. One of those bands was Exumer, a group that have been around since 1985, but whom only ever had two albums under their belt... until now.

A whole quarter of a century since the release of their second studio album, Rising From The Sea (1987), Exumer’s long-awaited third studio recording will finally be released this year. Titled Fire & Damnation, this new Metal Blade Records release is arguably the biggest of the band's career thus far. As a group, Exumer has endured many difficulties over the past 25 years, but the band has persevered and is now ready to again leave a vital and deep mark on the metal scene. So the question remains... come April 10th, will you be ready for a good thrashing?

Genre(s): Thrash Metal
