Every so often a movie or a video game comes out that is nastier than anything you've watched or played before. There are those occasions when a video game makes you jump or a movie makes you check behind the curtains before you go to bed. Likewise, there are also a few lyrical moments in the debut Roadrunner album from Flint metalcore mob King 810 that do precisely that.

Written from the mind of one David Gunn, a man who grew up in a place dubbed "Murder City," King 810 are currently being hyped as one of the most violent bands on the planet, while Slipknot frontman, Corey Taylor, has already named them as "the fury of the future." Of course it could all be hype, it could all be record company bullshit concocted by some marketing suit to help shift merch and records to impressionable teenagers but, after you take one listen to Gunn barking out "kill 'em all, kill 'em all, hang the fuckin' bodies in the hall" on album opener "Kill 'Em All" or him sneering "We don't turn and run where I'm from we shoot our way out of here" on "Murder Murder Murder," you kind of get the feeling that Gunn is a man who has experienced a life that would send most of their target fanbase running to mummy and daddy.

Regularly referencing a life of drugs, guns, violence and prison, Gunn does it to a soundtrack that is reminiscent of bands like Slipknot and Pantera. The music may not be the most original in the world, but there are times when it does take you back to the days of the Slipknot debut and, when married up with the dark, violent thoughts fizzing around Gunn's head, the end result is something that on occasion will send a shiver down your spine.
