New York indie rockers The Commuters have released a video for "Before I Was Born," the title track to their new EP, released last summer. Frontman Zeeshan Zaidi recently commented, "The video was born out of a very personal moment - the passing of my grandmother last summer, just a few months before my wife and I were expecting our second child."
Such contrasting emotions make for an emotional song and video. The video was created by indie filmmaker Mount Emult (Fountains of Wayne, Pixies, Panda Bear) and features bright blue kaleidoscopic graphics and animation with visuals which focus on the connecting piece between two of the most important people in Zaidi's life. The songwriting on Before I Was Born reflect the band's desire to move people with their music. Musical influences include David Bowie and Peter Gabriel, along with more modern, progressive bands like The Killers and Bon Iver.
