“Watch Me Burn” is the second single off alt-rock band The Crooked’s new EP First Place Silver and guess who’s your video premiere headquarters today?! This is a Toronto area band, founded in early 2017 by longtime friends. First Place Silver, which you can order right here, was recorded with local producer Ted Sevdalis and follows the previously released “Dog Days” video. “Watch Me Burn” carries on the group’s mission to define their “crooked” sound with gritty, odd timed guitar riffs, fiery vocals, and pounding drums.

The Crooked came together through the efforts of guys who have been staples of the local scene for several years. J.C. Sandoval was formerly a member of Die Mannequin and Dearly Beloved while drummer Dell’ Orso put in time in The Joy Arson. Soon after, Mississauga area bassist Russ Shipman and British-German import lead guitarist Neelesh V. joined the fold.

The weather is getting colder but there’s still room for some “Dog Days”.

Singer and guitarist J.C. Sandoval had a lot to say about the song and music video; “‘Watch Me Burn’ is a song that was conceived in a fever dream. The next day the lyrics sprung out of me very fluidly and the guitar riff was still circulating in my head. All the pieces came together very easily. It’s one of those songs where I believe the subconscious mind had something important to tell me. I believe it’s about embracing your true nature.”

He continued, “The music video was put together with footage from our EP Release party at The Horseshoe Tavern (in Toronto) on October 4th. I think we captured some of the energy and magic of that night. We had an enthusiastic full house and a great set. The video was shot by Michael El Crusty (guitarist for No Big Deal) and I edited it myself. I’m usually pretty involved in our video making process, not only because we have to be very DIY but also because I simply love doing it.”
